The Aspen Sapling
Our beloved state tree, the quaking Aspen, is quite a wonder. In the fall, we flock toward the mountains to catch a glimmer of the radiant light of their golden leaves. It is almost as though sunshine emanates from their very root system out into the world.
It is the root system that leaves us most in awe. Said to be among the largest organism in the world, is a grove of Aspen trees in southern Colorado. Apsens grow from the earth as individual trees, but their foundation is connected, intrinsically intertwined. The symbolism isn’t lost on us, as this is how we see our R2R community. Connected together. Just like the word yoga itself, meaning to yoke, to unite.
We are better only together.
The Aspen sampling also symbolizes rebirth. The ability to begin again, and again, and again. In our yoga practice we believe that to be true with each breath we take.

The Third Eye
The third eye center. Said to be our seat of deepest intuition, the Ajna chakra is the fountain from which our wisdom flows.
The third eye is found in the space between our eyebrows. Invisible but perceptive. Mystical. Magical. A reminder that the deepest seeing is not through our two eyes out into the world but is the looking within.
The eye for us, quite plainly, also means we see you. Truly. You are welcome here just as you are. Joys and struggles, happy times and sad. We see you.

The Sun
With over 300 days of sunshine a year, Denver basks in the light. We are creatures of it. The sun fuels us in our Colorado lifestyle, empowering us on uphill mountain bike climbs, trail runs, snowshoe backcountry treks, and downhill skiing. The sun sustains us just as it nourishes our gardens in the summer and our spirits through the winter months.
The sun, much like our third chakra, our solar plexus, provides us with vitality and courage. We know the practice of yoga we love so much is a reminder of this courage. That with every sunrise, every breath, is a chance to begin anew and rise again and again and again.

Karen Erstad

Karen Erstad
RYT 500
Karen Erstad has been teaching a variety of styles of yoga for more than 15 years. A former UW-Madison rower, a mother of two, and, of course, a yogi, Karen loves the physical challenge of yoga, as well as the mental clarity and sense of peace, awareness and connectedness she arrives at by the end of practice. Karen also loves how the benefits of yoga branch out to every part of her life, and she hopes her students embrace the opportunity to take yoga off the mat since those open to the transformative power of yoga will begin to witness their lives change in wonderful ways. Blocks and barriers melt away as practitioners establish a deeper connection to their true nature, helping them feel freer, happier and energized.
While you’ll explore a wide variety of posture sequences (the asanas) in Karen’s classes, you’ll also learn about the other seven limbs of yoga — as you stretch your hamstrings, you will also cultivate and expand love in your heart. Yogis usually leave Karen’s classes feeling more vibrant, aware, centered, connected, and peaceful. Karen has learned a lot since she started a daily practice in 2007, and then began teaching yoga full time in 2009. She learned to let go of perfection and embrace a mantra from Judith Hanson Lasater: “Life is practice, practice is life.”
She looks forward to sharing her passion for yoga and all that she has learned over the years with everyone in the training. In addition to completing a 200-hour yoga teacher training certification program that prepared her to teach vinyasa flow yoga in the tradition of Baron Baptiste, she has completed a 300-hour advanced yoga teacher training with Rolf Gates.

Rise Up

Testimonials & Reviews
Hineni Yoga School was the perfect choice for me to do my YTT. The program is very well thought out, and I love how they brought different instructors into their curriculum! Adam and Hope are great leaders and create a safe space for students to grow and explore.
Hineni Yoga is the school to choose if you want an immersive, impactful, and intentional yoga experience that is welcoming of all levels and backgrounds.
Shlomit O.
I did the 200 YTT in Fall 2024 and loved my experience with Hineni. It was all I hoped for and more. Adam and Hope put a lot of thought and work into making it a balance of all that it needed to be. It was fun and laid back and a family-like environment, but we got a lot done in a short amount of time. If you’re looking for a program that is not corporate and cookie cutter, where you’ll be really seen and valued, this is the one! I hope to do my 300 hour training with Hineni when they offer it in the future. I wouldn’t want to do it anywhere else.
Erin S.
Awesome experience and wonderful instructors! They really put in the effort to make sure that you get the best quality experience and prepare you for stepping out on your own.
Jonathan T.
Completing my 200-hour yoga teacher training at Hineni has been truly life-changing. Adam’s dedication and commitment to his students are unmatched—his leadership, guidance, and passion for yoga push you beyond what you think you’re capable of. Hope’s support and encouragement make the journey even more meaningful.
The classes were so well-structured, providing the perfect balance of challenge, discipline, and self-discovery. I accomplished things I never thought I could, both physically and mentally. But beyond deepening my practice, I gained a true sense of self-awareness.
What made this journey even more special was the bond I formed with my classmates. We lifted each other up, shared struggles and victories, and created a community I’ll cherish forever.
The commitment is 100% worth it—if you’re considering yoga teacher training, Hineni is the place to do it!
Stephanie M.
I could not have dreamed of a more perfect place or more amazing people to learn from. This school is wildly thoughtful, authentic, and heart forward. This all stems from the beautiful souls running it, their energy is contagious. If you are thinking about teacher training I highly, highly recommend Hineni. I’m so thankful for my experience and new found family! 🙂
